The presentation of “Radical” took place in the same room and at the same time as “CODA” two years ago. Derbez’s new lead was applauded by websites such as Deadline who wrote that “Derbez has never been better”.

Directed by Christopher Zalla, “Radical” tells the story of Sergio Juárez (Eugenio Derbez), a teacher at a school located on the border between Mexico and the United States.

Mr. Juárez finally tries a radically new teaching method to break his students’ apathy and unlock their curiosity, their potential, maybe even their genius.

The movie “Radical” is based on the story of Sergio Juárez Correa, an elementary school teacher in a modest and poor town called Matamoros.
The professor made headlines thanks to his teaching methods. After watching a video of a TED talk online, he decided that his students should be the ones to dictate their curriculum according to what they want to learn, not what the authorities dictate with exams.
In 2012, one of Professor Juarez’s students took first place in a national exam and her story was covered by Wired magazine, since the little girl came from this school with no resources and was one of the worst qualified.
The cast of “Radical” consists of Eugenio Derbez, Daniel Haddad, Jennifer Trejo, Mia Fernanda Solis and Danilo Guardiola. The film has no set release date, but is known to hit theaters in the United States and Mexico.
