‘Jack Ryan’ season 3 beats the audience record for ‘Wednesday’

Tom Clancy’s world series has returned with great force and, although without a viral dance, it has stolen the throne from Jenna Ortega and the Addams.

John Krasinski has for the moment left his praised job as horror director of ‘A Quiet Place’ to return to embody Tom Clancy’s action hero who gives name to one of Amazon Prime’s most emblematic series since its launch. ‘Jack Ryan’ has come back very strong with its season 3 and the truth is that it has done so by breaking a streaming audience record that Netflix’s hit ‘Wednesday’ had.

In the latest Nielsen classification on the audience of original streaming productions in the United States (in data collected by TVLine), season 3 of ‘Jack Ryan’ accumulated 1.834 billion minutes in its 24 episodes while ‘Wednesday’ added 1.8 billion. Of course, the Netflix series did it with only 8 episodes.

Of course, ‘Jack Ryan’ continues to have a very different audience from that of ‘Wednesday’ or other Netflix youth hits. According to the same medium, and always speaking of the United States, the massive audience of ‘Jack Ryan’ had more than 50% in 66% of the things and 56% of the audience were men. This last piece of information is actually surprising because of its moderation, since it somewhat refutes the cliché that action series only work for male audiences.

It has been confirmed that there will be a season 3, but also that it will be the last. Not only that, but it has already been filmed. For this reason, it is to be expected that it will arrive this year 2023. Of course, the world of Tom Clancy still has much more content to throw away. While Jack Ryan is coming to an end along with John Krasinski’s contract, Amazon already has several spin-offs planned, including one starring Michael Peña.

‘Wednesday’, which loses in the classification solely and exclusively due to its low number of episodes, has been one of the only great joys of Netflix in recent times. Therefore, it is not surprising that a season 2 of ‘Wednesday’ has already been confirmed. However, the release date is not yet known, nor is the production and filming date. We are talking about a series that broke almost all Netflix audience records, and was only resisted by the South Korean phenomenon ‘The Squid Game’. Title that, of course, will also have season 2 despite having been considered as a stand-alone series.

The first season of ‘Wednesday’ is available on Netflix Spain. The first three seasons of ‘Jack Ryan’, by Tom Clancy, are on Amazon Prime Video Spain.
