From Elton John to Freddie Mercury, find out where to check out the stories of music icons.
Whitney Houston has won a new biopic, which is in theaters, and there are many great films that have brought the lives of iconic stars to theaters. It is worth mentioning that this film inspired by the life of the diva is already generating controversy, as it deals with an affair that the singer had with a woman and the family did not want her to be portrayed in any way, but let’s go to our list.
Elvis could not be left out. The film by Baz Luhrmann, the genius behind The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge, lasts almost 3 hours and traces the beginning of Elvis’ life until his death, going through drug addiction, the ups and downs of his career, the hardships and moments of his celebrity. The film has arrived on HBO Max and has already become the most watched on the platform, as well as bringing to the screen all the talent of Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, showing the light and dark side of the king’s career.
Bohemian Rhapsody, the most awarded film at the Oscars of 2019 and which won best actor for Rami Malek, is an event. The film shows how Queen was born, how Freddie Mercury was conquering the world with his voice, along with Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, going through its most dramatic and also most memorable moments, such as Rock in Rio. The film can be seen on Netflix.
Rocket Man, the Elton John biopic had the star’s full support to show all the phases and facets of it, from the most beautiful to moments of alcohol and drug abuse. In a mix of musical and biography, Taron Egerton, who plays Sir Elton John, takes us through the artist’s childhood, his complex relationship with his mother and father, until he conquered the biggest stages in the world. The film is on Star+.
The Dirt, a film that tells the sordid and unthinkable backstage of the Motley Crue band, closes our list. If there’s one band that’s taken sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll seriously, it’s called Motley Crue. The Netflix film has absurd behind-the-scenes passages of the group, scenes watered with all kinds of excess and a lot of talent involved.
