Nightclub series Kiss debuts at number 1 on Netflix

The miniseries based on the Kiss Nightclub fire, one of the biggest tragedies ever seen in the country, debuted as the #1 series on Netflix. Every day the same night debuted this Wednesday (25), adapting the homonymous book-report by Daniela Arbex.

Netflix maintains Top 10 lists where we can see series and movies ranking on the platform in terms of audience per day in Brazil. Next Friday (27), the terrible case will be 10 years old, with the feeling of impunity still hovering among the relatives of the victims. Every day the same night is a fiction miniseries inspired by the true story of the fire at the Kiss nightclub in 2013, in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, in which 242 young people lost their lives. Based on a book by journalist Daniela Arbex, the work portrays the struggle for justice waged by the parents of victims and survivors, which continues to this day.

The series has general direction by Julia Rezende, in addition to direction by Carol Minêm and the screenplay by Gustavo Lipsztein. The cast has names like Thelmo Fernandes, Paulo Gorgulho, Bianca Byington, Leonardo Medeiros, Debora Lamm, Raquel Karro, Bel Kowarick, Erom Cordeiro, Paola Antonini, Nicolas Vargas, Flavio Bauraqui and Laila Zaid.

Netflix leads BAFTA nominations; see complete list

Netflix leads all distributors with 21 nominations for the BAFTA, Britain’s top film award, the list of nominees for which was revealed last Thursday (19).

This high number of nominations is mainly due to the film Nothing new on the frontwhich received 14 nominations, plus three for Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro and one for blonde, The swimmers, The night nurse And The miracle.
