Colleen Hoover’s best-selling book “That’s How It Ends” will be adapted for the big screen, with Blake Lively set to star in the film opposite Justin Baldoni.
“Here’s How It Ends” follows Lily, a small-town girl who moves to Boston to start her own business. Sparks immediately fly between her and neurosurgeon Ryle, but her “complete loathing of relationships is unsettling,” reads the book’s description. “Even as Lily finds himself becoming her exception to her ‘no dates’ rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan, her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her soul mate, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
Hoover is currently the best-selling novelist in the United States, writing five of the top 10 best-selling books in any genre in 2022, with more than 20 million copies sold. “It Ends Up” ended 2022 as the best-selling paperback and was on the New York Times Bestseller list for over 90 weeks. Baldoni and Wayfarer worked closely with Hoover as a consultant on the film.
Best known for her work on the series gossip Girl and movies like A small favor And Four friends and a travel jeansLively made her directorial debut last year with Taylor Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me” music video.
Former protagonist of jane the virgin Justin Baldoni is co-founder of Wayfarer Studios, whose mission is to “create purposeful cross-platform film and television productions that uplift and speak to the human spirit.”
The film is in development at Sony Pictures, with Baldoni also taking on the role of director and executive producer under the Wayfarer Studios banner. Lively will also executive produce alongside Hoover, Steve Sarowitz and Andrew Calof. Alex Saks will produce for Saks Picture Company, along with Jamey Heath, who will produce on behalf of Wayfarer Studios. Christy Hall has written the current script and is also set to produce it.
