As it became known to The Sun, three years after the biopic was approved, the creators of the studio realized that it was simply impossible to work with the 64-year-old singer. Madonna, who wanted to be personally involved in the process, first replaced several screenwriters who would help adapt her story for the general public. Among them was Oscar winner Diablo Cody, who, not without scandal, ended his work with Madonna in 2021.

After unsuccessful attempts to work with professionals, Madonna decided that she would direct everything herself. But instead of working on the script, she went headlong into social networks, where, with all her creative zeal, she published provocative videos, shocking statements and other content that caused serious concerns not only among movie bosses, but also among fans about the sanity of the diva. The December video, in which Madonna drinks from a dog bowl, was the last straw in the patience of Universal Pictures executives – they never received a single line from the singer on the film.

She signed a contract to make this film and it was supposed to be a signal for her to stop circus antics, stop chasing likes and just get down to business and bring this film into proper shape, insiders say. “Studio bosses kept an eye on what Madonna posted during those months when she was supposed to be writing and scratched their heads. Therefore, the decision was made to cancel the project.
