THE season 2020 it was historic for Lewis Hamilton. in addition to Mercedes switched from the traditional silver to black paintwork – with the aim of supporting the fight against racism – the Englishman took his seventh title in the Turkish GPwhich is equivalent to Michael Schumacher as the biggest winner in the history of Formula 1. And that moment was so special that as he was about to cross the finish line, Lewis said he saw “life pass before his eyes”.

Hamilton’s active voice on diversity and inclusion in F1 is nothing new. The Briton also showed concern and the attitude he adopts when he is in contact with companies and sponsors, to understand how they behave with respect to these issues.
“Usually when I talk to sponsors or companies, I think, ‘Hey, how diverse is your team? What are you doing for diversity and inclusion? How are you creating a better workspace for people?'” he revealed.
“This is what I want to be a part of. Success may come later, and it will be down the road, but if you’re not asking these questions or dealing with these issues, then we’re not aligned. And that pretty much applies to all the partners we have – we have a lot of partners in our team – I asked these really tough questions,” he explained.
In addition to Hamilton being incisive with the guidelines he defends within F1, Lewis has the support of Mercedes in these actions. The seven-time champion also praised the role played by the German team in supporting his efforts. “I think I got very close to Mercedes e Daimler. They were so open that we changed the car from silver to black for 2020. I told them, “The car has always been silver. The Arrows have always been silver.” Imagine if we change the car to black. Imagine the message we can convey,” she recalled.
“We had the black car all year. We didn’t even talk much about it, and we won in it, that’s when I won my seventh world title in that car,” he said.
In 2023 Hamilton has one more chance to win the eighth championship and become the greatest champion in the history of Formula 1. The season starts on March 5, with the Bahraini GPand will have 23 races, highlighting the new las vegas grand prix and six sprint races: Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Qatar, the United States and Sao Paulo.
