Actress Phoebe Dynevor, who starred in the first two seasons of ‘Bridgerton’, will not participate in the attraction’s upcoming season. The information came from the actress herself, in an interview with Variety.
“Well, I’ve done my two seasons,” she said when asked about her future at ‘Bridgerton.’ “I did what I wanted to with this character and she had a great story arc. If they call me back in the future, who knows?”
In another interview, this time for the website ScreenRant, Dynevor reiterated that “I’m sadly not in season 3. Potentially in the future. But season 3, I’m excited to watch as a viewer.”
His contract was for just two seasons and now he joins Regé-Jean Page, who plays the Duke of Hastings, in life after the series. First to leave the attraction, Page was only contracted for one season and decided not to extend the deal to appear in new chapters.
The new season will also bring another change. New showrunner Jess Brownell has decided to focus on characters Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), skipping the third book of the Julia Quinn franchise.
“Bridgerton” is an adaptation of Quinn’s works. After adapting “The Duke and I”, the first volume of the literary saga, focused on Daphne Bridgerton (Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the Bridgerton family, and “The viscount who loved me”, in which the most coveted bachelor of the prom season was Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), season 3 will focus on “Colin Bridgerton”, the fourth book.
The change makes sense in the context of the series, as their relationship has seen more development in the first two seasons than the Benedict (Luke Thompson) story arc, the focus of the third book, “A Perfect Knight.” Also, in the last episode of Season 2, Penelope overheard Colin saying he would never marry her, a classic romance storyline.
“Because we’ve seen these two actors on our screens since season one, we’ve already invested in them. We know who they are as people,” Brownwell told Variety. “I feel like, especially in the last season, there are these moments of tension between them, where Colin almost realizes that Penelope has feelings for him, but she really doesn’t. Season 3. It really felt like the perfect time to start. “
Bridgerton Season 3 still doesn’t have a premiere date.
But audiences will be able to see Phoebe Dynevor in other productions, such as the drama “Fair Play”, recently sold to Netflix for 20 million dollars, and the comedy “The Threesome”, about a couple who decide to have a threesome. Neither film has a set release date.
