Jaafar Jackson, the singer’s nephew, is chosen to star in the Michael Jackson biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua.
Director Antoine Fuqua has revealed on his Instagram who is chosen to give life to the King of Pop in ‘Michael’, the biopic about Michael Jackson that he is preparing together with the artist’s heirs. Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew and son of Jermaine Jackson, of the Jackson Fivewill have on itself all the weight of embodying one of the myths of popular culture.
Jaafar has been singing and dancing since he was 12 years old, interpreting versions of Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye, and 3 years ago he released their first original single (and so far only) ‘Got Me Singing’in which it can be seen that his voice is eerily similar to his Uncle Michael’s, and his signature dance moves are well learned. Fuqua’s social media post is a photo of Jaafar dancing in a private studio with wall-to-wall mirrors. In the image, Jaafar wears Jackson’s signature black leather shoes and a black fedora.. Jaafar strikes a classic MJ pose as he assesses her moves from all angles.
“I met Jaafar over two years ago and I was blown away by the way he organically embodies Michael’s spirit and personalitysaid producer Graham King. “It was something so powerful that even after conducting a worldwide search, it was clear that he is the only person who will take on this role. I am beyond thrilled that he has joined to play his uncle and I can’t wait for the world to see him on the big screen as Michael Jackson.”

‘Michael’, as the biopic will be called, “will give audiences a profound and never before told portrait of the complicated man who became the King of Pop. The film will explore all aspects of Michael Jackson’s life.including his most iconic performances that led him to become the best artist of all time”, according to its official synopsis.
