He Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival (BCN FILM FEST)which is celebrated from April 20 to 28 in the Verdi Cinemas in Barcelona As the main venue, it presents its poster and part of the programming for its seventh edition, as well as its new protagonists, an impeccable collection of stars that include Omar Sy, Toni Servillo, Bille August, Nanni Moretti, Jafar Panahi and Bérénice Bejo.

The festival will deliver its Honor Award to the fundamental Wim Wendersa filmmaker to whom the Essentials section will also be dedicated with a retrospective that, in collaboration with the Wim Wenders Foundation, collects his most representative works, among which are ‘Paris, Texas’, ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ and ‘Pina’ .

“We are very happy to announce that this year the festival has as its image one of the most emblematic and renowned European directors, Wim Wenders, an admired and award-winning filmmaker, who symbolizes a spirit of constant research,” he says. Conxita Casanovas, Director of the BCN FILM FEST. “His inspiring filmography, which has connected cinema with music, literature and photography or dance, will serve us as a navigator this year. In this regard, Wim Wenders’ cinema, so multifaceted and in permanent renewal, comes to us as a glove and connects with a BCN FILM FEST with the intention of improving and being useful to the film industry, reinforcing the image of Barcelona”.

The BCN FILM FEST 2023 poster pays tribute, precisely, to Wim Wenders, one of those directors with the ability to create and train new moviegoers. For this reason, the festival’s poster is inspired by his most emblematic film, ‘Paris, Texas’, with an image of Nastassja Kinski that its author, Joel B. García, has taken as a reference.

‘SICA’, directed by Carla Subirana, will be in charge of closing the festival. The film, selected by the Berlin Film Festival, is a coming-of-age shot on the Costa da Morte and starring Thais García, in the role of a 14-year-old girl who waits for the sea to return the body of her fisherman father.
