The series has been a success since its arrival on Netflix.
‘The Snow Girl’ continues to be among the most watched on Netflix since January 27, the date on which the series starring Milena Smit and Jose Coronado, among others, premiered. It is already one of the Spanish Netflix series that you must see. The plot, made up of six chapters, began with the disappearance of Amaya, a 5-year-old girl in the middle of the Three Kings parade. The investigation and the ordeal for the parents lasted several years. The appearance of mysterious tapes with recordings of an older Amaya fueled the case, which Miren Rojo, Smit’s character, was investigating in parallel with the police, finding clues that were crucial to finding Amaya’s whereabouts.
As already explained in the explained ending of ‘The Snow Girl’, the outcome gives rise to a second season of ‘The snow girl’, given the ending that leaves open for a new case for Mirenwith another disappearance and several enigmas to keep track of.
As already mentioned, the series is based on the book by Javier Castillo. Posted in March 2020, became one of the most read novels during confinement. The author focused his plot on the Thanksgiving parade in 1998, although the guidelines followed by the television production have been the same as the original text, without losing the original essence.
Here the fiction, starting from the best-sellerhas been adapted by Jesús Mesas Silva and Javier Andrés Roig begins in 2010 and they choose Malaga instead of New York on Thanksgiving as the place where the disappearance of little Amaya takes place, and with her the difficult case, both for Miren, a trainee journalist at the time, who becomes obsessed with the case, as for the inspector in charge of the search.
Once the six chapters have been seen, and taking into account the review that it does to real life, one of the things that attracts the attention of ‘The Snow Girl’ is the relationship between the case and real events. Nevertheless, Is this Netflix series based on true events?
‘The Snow Girl’ might seem like a true story, but it’s not real. Unlike so many series based on real cases or scandals, his argument has no more basis than the famous fictional account of Castillo. The story is inspired by several cases of real disappearances in recent years in Spain, but it is a text totally invented by the man from Malaga. So much caught that more than 1 were sold.700,000 copies
‘The snow girl’ is followed by ‘The game of the soul’, published in 2021 and which is possibly the inspiration for the second part, given the ending we have seen in the series. Castillo’s latest book has been published in 2023, called ‘El cuco de cristal’. At the moment there is no confirmation of the second seasonbut we will be aware of all the news.
