‘Insidious 5’: release date, trailer, cast, synopsis and more

Patrick Wilson makes his directorial debut to continue the original story after the second installment of the saga.

Horror movies are in luck. And if there is one person to thank in recent years, it is james wan. The director of Malaysian origin surprised almost twenty years ago with that macabre and intelligent puzzle called ‘saw’ (long before it became a raving) and continued to do so in later years with lighter films like ‘Silence from evil’ and ‘Evil’ and with more successful ones like ‘Insidious’one of the best current horror films to be afraid of, and ‘The Warren Files’, an achievement by Wan himself who has managed to weave his own universe in the form of a franchise around the films of the Warren Files, already dubbed “Warrenverso”. “.

It would be unfair not to mention another key man in the genre: Jason blumCEO of Blumhouse Productionshome to some of the most popular horror films of recent years, notable for their modest budgets and exceptional profitability, such as ‘Sinister’, ‘Let Me Out’, ‘Black Phone’ and of course, ‘Insidious’. In fact, such is his role in the industry, that Jason Blum himself denied ‘Insidious 5’ in 2020 to, two years later, tell us “how much we are going to love” ‘Insidious 5’:

With ‘Insidious’, his terrifying proposal and update of a classic ghost story with a narrative between two worlds, Wan would achieve a box office bombing in 2010 that would reach almost 100 million dollars in revenue with only 1.5 million dollars in budget . With these figures, a sequel was immediate and in 2013 it arrived ‘Insidious: Chapter 2’a kind of diptych with which Wan managed to keep the type, but without contributing too much news.

From here, and with Wan far from the saga, the train began to derail. Both the prequel ‘Insidious: Chapter 3’ as ‘Insidious: The Last Key’ they showed clear signs of exhaustion by leaving the terrified Lambert family aside (but at least, they serve as the perfect vehicle for showing off lin shayeone of the strengths of ‘Insidious’).

When are we going to be able to jump from the cinema seats again? Aim well: the release date of ‘Insidious: Fear of the Dark’ is the July 21, 2023so we already have a terrifying plan for this summer.

That is, to the family to which they give life Patrick Wilson (Josh Lambert) and the wonderful Rose Byrne (Renai Lambert). Next to them, repeat too ty simpkins as Dalton Lambert and, of course, one of the key characters in the franchise: lin shaye like the brilliant parapsychologist Elise Rainier.

They complete the cast and make their debut in the saga Peter Dager, A. J. Dyer and daniel sinclairlike hiam abbasswhich we would have loved to see in the remake of ‘Hellraiser’, still without a release date in Spain.

    ‘Insidious 5’: director

Let’s review: ‘Insidious’ and its sequel were directed by the aforementioned james wan. For the third part, Wan would entrust the controls to Leigh Whannelwho was the screenwriter of ‘Saw’, of the ‘Insidious’ saga and also the director of ‘Upgrade’one of the most underrated films of the last 20 years, while Adam Robitel (‘Escape Room’) would take over the fourth installment.

And what about ‘Insidious 5’? Well, following in the footsteps of other actors involved in directing work in sequels of well-known genre proposals (there we have Anthony Perkins and ‘Psycho III’), here we find the big surprise: this film supposes the directorial debut of actor Patrick Wilsonprotagonist of the first two films in the saga and of the three installments of ‘Warren expedient’ (Waiting for ‘Warren File 4’, the most likely end of the saga).
