Mark Hamill, the actor best known for bringing Luke Skywalker to life in ‘Star Wars’, is signing posters to raise money to help with Ukraine’s costs of buying drones. The announcement came in an interview with the actor on the Politico website.
note that
“We decided to sign Star Wars posters, a limited quantity. For true hardcore collectors, especially those who have disposable income, you can get a lot more money than you might think.

All I can do [pela Ucrânia], however small, is something I feel compelled to do… Drones are so vital to this conflict. They are the eyes in the sky. They protect the border, they control it.

In the interview, Hamill linked his actions to one of the lessons learned from Star Wars: “doing the right thing for the good of all, instead of just focusing on self-interest.”
The actor also highlighted the differences between the narrative of the film franchise and the situation experienced by the Ukrainian population. “Una is truly a children’s tale, as Star Wars originally was. And the reality, the harsh reality of what is happening in Ukraine is heartbreaking.”
After being appointed ambassador of the Ukrainian Drone Army project, Voodymyr Zelensky praised the actor:
Mark, you became the first ambassador to help Ukraine raise funds to support its advocates. For Ukrainians, this means a lot. As in “Star Wars”, good will triumph over evil and light will conquer darkness. With you on the team, there’s no way.
The number of Hamill-signed posters hasn’t been announced, but sales are expected to begin this week. The money raised from the sale of the posters will go to the Ukrainian fundraising platform United24.
