Fans Criticize Netflix’s ‘You People’ Fake Kiss: Actor Reveals It Was CGI

Jonah Hill recorded his orgy “The Wolf of Wal Street” with Leonardo DiCaprio, but he has also been in many other comedy films.

Among them is “You People,” a Netflix movie that was criticized after it was revealed that the romantic kiss in the final scene was done with CGI.

The kiss from the movie ‘You People’ was done with CGI

“You People” is a romantic comedy about the differences between a couple as their families have two very different outlooks on life.

On the one hand, the groom’s family is Jewish, while the bride’s is of African descent and Muslim. For this reason, there are various cultural clashes that hinder the happiness of lovers.

However, they manage to overcome their differences and like a good romantic movie, the film ends with a romantic kiss between the protagonists.

But the magic of this moment was overshadowed when one of the ‘You People’ cast revealed that this scene was done through CGI. As Andrew Schulz (who played Avi in the film) put it on the Brilliant Idiots podcast:

The actor saw how Jonah Hill and Lauren London filmed this scene and was surprised that they both stopped just before kissing. He even thought that there would no longer be a final kiss in the film:

“I’m there watching the wedding and I see them come in to kiss and their faces stop like that. And I’m like, “I wonder how they’re going to interpret that in the movie?” Oh, they’ll probably cut there. But in the movie, you could see their faces get closer, and then you could see their faces morph into a little bit of a fake kiss.”

Fans Criticize ‘You People’ Fake Kiss

In this sense, while there are actors who have confessed their favorite kiss on screen, there are others like the protagonists of ‘You People’ who did not even record this intimate moment in the Netflix film.

For this reason, those who saw the comedy could not avoid expressing their disagreements through social networks.

For example, one user commented that it was obvious there was no chemistry between Jonah Hill and Lauren London, but that doesn’t justify paying for a CGI kiss:

“Their chemistry was so lacking in the film. But are you paying for computer-generated imagery (CGI)? A fade to black moment would have been more believable. Rom-coms shouldn’t be so hard to make.”

Some mentioned that they had to hire other actors to star in ‘You People’. Maybe that way they wouldn’t have resorted to using CGI for the kiss scene:

“The fact that they had to CGI the kiss between Lauren London and Jonah Hill in that movie You People… they should have given someone else if they were going to be so cowardly”

Others even thought the CGI kiss in ‘You People’ ruined the entire movie, as @Amizzy commented on Twitter: “That fake CGI kiss totally ruined this ‘You People’ movie, automatically a 4/10 now.”
