The biggest event of its kind in the country, the REP Festival started with dozens of unforeseen events last Saturday, the 11th, from rain and flooding to various technical problems. Therefore, the organization revealed, this Sunday morning, the 12th, that the second day of shows was cancelled.
On social media, the public REP Festival narrated that the problems started already on the way to the event, as the heavy rains generated traffic jams. Once at the festival site, visitors were faced with large and unexpected queues, in addition to a precarious structure, concentration of mud and a lot of delay in programming.
It turns out that, initially, the event should have taken place in Barra da Tijuca, but ended up being transferred to the Guaratiba neighborhood. So, the rap city it was assembled just ten days before the shows and, because of that, it presented many structural problems.
In an official note, then, the REP Festival announced the cancellation of the second day of performances. According to the organization, the decision was taken “due to the damage caused to the structure of the event by the heavy rains that hit Rio de Janeiro in recent days”.
This Sunday, the 12th, the stages of the festival would host concerts by Ludmilla, Philip Ret, Shaman, Delacruz, between others. The presentations, however, were canceled “thinking about the safety and mobility of the public, the artists and the technical and operational team”.

Problems and more cancellations
For the public that hired transport from REP Festival, the problems started even before arriving at the event, due to the long queues and constant traffic. already in rap citytaken by mud and rain, fans still had to face the delay in opening the gates – which was supposed to start at 1 pm, but only happened an hour later.
Within the event, the most distinct problems were recorded. While tractors dumped gravel in front of the stages to reduce the impact of the mud, the microphones gave shocks to the artists and animals such as snakes and frogs impeded people’s traffic.
The unforeseen events were so great that the organization of the event decided to cancel all the shows on the Filtr Try stage on Saturday. Then, GR6 announced that their artists would no longer participate in the festival and, later, the Racionais MC’s revealed that they would also not be present at the fourth edition of the event.
“The show that the group Racionais MC’s would do on Saturday, February 11th, at REP Festivalin Rio de Janeiro, was canceled due to problems related to the lack of structure and safety of the public and artists,” said a note from the boogie suit. “The team and artists regret what happened and are grateful for the understanding of the public and the attention of the production available at the event.”

In the same way, MC Hariel used his Instagram to announce that he would no longer participate in the festival “for obvious reasons” and apologized to the fans. Baco Exu do Bluesin turn, published a story stating: “There will be no show today, sorry to all the fans. I love you”.
Finally, after receiving a shock during his concert, MC Maneirinho talked about what happened. “For the show, for rap, for funk, I would never abandon you. look at this REP Festivalregardless of the problems, I’m there and showing where I came from,” he wrote.
