Linkin Park was the opening act during the North American tour Summer Sanitarium
Mike Shinoda revealed in an interview with The Howard SternShow (via NME) that the Linkin Park played a trick with the metallicaon stage in 2003. The catch would have been when the band opened the metallica during the North American tour Summer Sanitarium.
“Nobody had ever pranked them onstage,” he recalled. Shinoda.
According to the rapper, O link park wanted to make a joke to liven up the show; “Their show was always so difficult and dark, so we thought, ‘What would be the least difficult and least dark thing to do?’ Chester Bennington then walked onstage as the band played “Master Of Puppets” and set up a picnic next to the drummer, Lars Ulrich.
We ended up leaving with a picnic basket and little sandwiches and drinks and Chester [Bennington] had a skateboard, so he walked onto the stage. We went up and they were playing I think ‘Master Of Puppets’and we set up a picnic just above Lars [Ulrich]”he said.
“But the guys were laughing. They were tapping’master of puppets’ like, turning around and laughing at us.”
The musician added that at that moment they knew the metallica “just enough to know that James [Hetfield] I wouldn’t pull my teeth out.”
