SP Coast composer goes to court against MC Mirella

Author of the song “I did not lose, I got rid of”, MC Rodriguinho do Marapé sues the singer and Kondzilla for moral damages

MC Rodriguinho do Marapé, of Baixada Santista, has filed a lawsuit against São Paulo-based funk artist MC Mirella and producer Kondzilla, for moral and material damages suffered from nearly six years of property abuse.

Marapé claims to have written the first song “I have not lost, I got rid of”, released in September 2017 on digital platforms, and accuses the young singer and music producer of having stolen his paternity. He claims that he has not received any economic return after the release of the song and reiterates his desire to be identified.

“They recorded it as if the music was theirs. They got money for it. And I haven’t received a dime for my work,” the singer said. Today, the track embroiled in the controversy garners just over 87 million views on Kondzilla’s YouTube.

At the end of 2022, Visão do Corre had access to documents made available by Rodriguinho proving that the song is his authorship, as well as conversations in 2018, when he discovered that the work had been recorded without his consent.

“First they took my work without authorization, changed the name of the work and registered it under other names of other authors. I mean, Mirella got a lot of money for this job. And I? Not a penny,” the MC reported.

In August, the singer took to his social media to claim his rights.

The young man is known among funk on the coast of São Paulo for having several successful compositions. He also gained media notoriety in June last year for another reason: He appeared on a telecast playing for São Paulo after a loss to Palmeiras in the Brazilian league.
