Feature film with the virtual members of the Gorillaz should not leave the drawing board
Damon Albarn brought bad news to the fans of gorillaz. The creative mind behind the group’s songs revealed, in an interview with humus (via TMDQA), that Netflix changed his mind about filming with virtual band members and shelved the project.
The feature film was announced by the musician in 2020. He mentioned that the contract was signed and that the scripts were finalized. Despite this, animation spending cuts made the streaming platform cancel the launch.
“The New Disk [Cracker Island] arose because Jamie Hewlett [criador do Gorillaz ao lado de Damon] and I were in Los Angeles often,” Albarn explained. “We were working on the film of the gorillaz that will never happen,” he continued.
Answering if the project is definitely suspended, damon he added: “Yes; No naming because the matter is unresolved: the streaming platform we were making the movie with has given up. They panicked because they were producing too much content and decided to make fewer movies.”
