Axl Rose has a lot of history with Brazil. In addition to more than 30 presentations in the country with Armas e Rosasthe vocalist has beta lebeisa Brazilian, as his personal assistant.
But not all situations involving rose in Brazilian territory were good. One of them took place in 2010, when the singer did not attend an acoustic performance that would be held at Discoa nightclub in São Paulo that had the television presenter Marcos Mion as one of its partners.
The event was even announced by the nightclub, as recalled by the presenter Felipe Solari in an interview with the podcast Falacadabra. At that night, Solari he worked as a DJ at the place – in this way, he closely followed the whole case, which came to be reverberated at the time, but not in its entirety.
That Guns N’ Roses acoustic show
Between March and April 2010, the Armas e Rosas was in Brazil for his fourth local tour. Before, they had passed through here in 1991, 1992 and 2001. The presentations in Brasília (07/03), Belo Horizonte (10/03), São Paulo (13/03), Porto Alegre (16/03) and Rio de Janeiro (04/04) would be the group’s first in the country since the release of the album Chinese Democracy (2008), popular for having taken more than a decade to reach stores.
Before the appointment in the capital of São Paulo, more specifically at the Palestra Itália stadium, the Disco nightclub would host the acoustic show of guns. Felipe Solari reminds:
“Like the Mion it was engendered with some artists, so there were shows by artists in the pocket show format, like Di Ferrero It is crybaby. It was really cool, because it broke that paradigm of the elitist party, from São Paulo and all. It was the ‘night Armas e Rosas for the elite of São Paulo’, it was very special.”
In that period, moreover, axl dated the model and former VJ of MTVEllen Jabour. The Brazilian would have facilitated the contact to close the show.

Marcos Mion gives more details
Himself Marcos Mion manifested itself in the comments section of the video on YouTube with the interview of Felipe Solari. The presenter and partner of the nightclub confirmed that Ellen Jabour facilitated the connection, but that was the Axl Rose who asked for the show “to meet nice people from Brazil, models, etc”.
Before the singer broke for good, people from his team stayed, according to Mion, “making terror every 20 minutes that ‘he was coming in’, that ‘he took a walk around the block’, etc”. He adds: “At that, I was like a silly cockroach running to the door and coming back”.
With the exception of the main artist (whose absence would have been due to a cold), everyone from Armas e Rosas – instrumentalists and crew – was present at the venue that night. In one of those situations that could only happen in a country like Brazil, the fight was left even to a comedian present on the spot. Carioca, humorist of “Pânico”, covered the event as the character Amaury Dumboparody of amaury jr.
“When the beatings took over the parking lot, the Carioca from ‘Pânico’ was on Amaury screaming ‘MY FRIEND’. At that, one of the p#tos jiujiteiros passed, sent a ‘my friend is the c****ho’ and put a right in the eye of the Carioca.”
The next day
Nothing like one day after another. And nothing like a new controversy for the Axl Rose from that time to get involved.
The concert at the Palestra Itália stadium took place as planned the following night, even with an incident that almost compromised the performance. In the first song of the repertoire, “Chinese Democracy”, a person in the audience threw a glass of beer at Rose. Annoyed, the singer interrupted the execution and threatened to leave the stage.
It was there that, curiously, axl cited the nightclub incident Disco. Felipe Barbieriwho conducted the interview with Felipe Solari for the Falacadabraremembered:
“He took a deep breath and went back to being the axl. He asked: ‘do you guys want to be an asshole like the guy in the club last night?’. The next day, everyone searching, not knowing what happened. A little note came out here and there, but without explanation.”
