Paulinho da Viola, one of the stars of the Special Edition of Rolling Stone Brasil dedicated to the 1942 Generation, received homage from Maria Rita at Sapucaí
Maria Rita highlighted admiration for Paulinho da Viola when meeting the musician in a box on Marquês de Sapucaí. Both accompanied the parade of the champions of Rio de Janeiro, held on Saturday, 25th, with the six best placed schools in this year’s carnival.
The singer was one of the musical attractions of the space and, on stage, honored Paulinho: “For me, he is a kind of King, a President for whom I have always had great admiration, pride and respect.”
“When my son was still learning his first words, he looked at him and said, ‘What Paulinho‘. That’s the relationship I have with this genius,” he added. Maria Rita still performed “It Was A River That Passed In My Life,” composition of Paulinho.
Paulinho da Viola is one of the artists in the Special 80 Years of Music, an exclusive edition of Rolling Stone Brazil dedicated to the 1942 Generation, which brings together other essential names in MPB, such as Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso. In the physical and digital newsstands, the special also brings reviews of outstanding albums by the composers.
