Imagine Dragons declaring their love for Brazil on their fifth visit to the country

The group turns 15 and performs in São Paulo, Curitiba and Rio

That the Brazilian public loves Imagine Dragons has been known since the first arrival of the North American group, almost 10 years ago. But the reciprocal is true, as the members of the group are keen to reiterate, who are performing this week in São Paulo, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro. See below for how to search for tickets.

The quartet arrives in Brazil with a double disc of 32 tracks, “Mercury – Acts 1 & 2”. The shows were scheduled for October of last year, but lead singer Dan Reynolds suffered a problem with his vocal cords and couldn’t make the dates.

The artist himself regretted the fact, as he has a familiar history with the country. “My father came to Brazil on a religious mission for two years (he’s a Mormon) and he speaks very fondly of that time,” Reynolds says. “So, whenever I had to choose a country to represent myself in school, I chose Brazil. When I go to play Fifa in the video game, I also choose Brazil.”

Bassist Ben McKee echoes him: “It was on a tour of Brazil that we realized we had reached another level as a band. We played to 80,000 people, who were singing and jumping.”

Drummer Daniel Platzman, on the other hand, chooses Brazilian funk as his preference in the country, seeing the similarity to the genre he appreciates, trap. And he cites multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal as one of his references of him.
