Glastonbury announces line-up with Elton John, Guns N’ Roses, Arctic Monkeys and more

O Glastonburyone of the biggest festivals in the world, announced the line-up for its 2023 edition. Arctic monkeys, Armas e Rosas, lizzo It is Lil Nas X are some of the attractions of the event, which takes place between the 21st and 25th of June, at Worthy Farm (England).

Elton John is the main attraction of this year. His concert at the festival will mark the end of the tour. Farewell Yellow Brick Road, which celebrates its 50 years of career. “Every week I talk to new artists on my radio show and Glastonbury is the festival’s genuine and enthusiastic support of emerging new talent, something I’ve always admired. Thanks for putting me through this, Emily Eavis [co-organizadora do evento]. It’s going to be exciting!” he declared of his lineup.

Eavis revealed that presentation of Elton it was an old wish: “We’ve wanted it for years. We’ve talked about it on a few occasions. In the end, I wrote a letter saying, “If it never happens, it would be a failure for all parties. I know you’ve done everything in the world. You’ve already filled in everything you needed to fill out. But would you please come and touch the Glastonbury?’ He called me and said yes.”

Asked about the division by gender of the line-up, which approaches 50/50 – but only has men among the main attractions – organizers revealed that the presentation of a female headliner was scheduled, but had to be cancelled. By 2024, more than half of the headline acts should be female performers, they promised (via BBC).

Tickets for the festival sold out in just one hour when they went on sale in 2022.
