Lollapalooza 2023: Number Teddie kicks off final day of festival with depressing pop rock

The singer, known for composing songs for artists such as Pabllo Vittar, opened Palco Chevrolet with heavy lyrics and lots of animation

still little known to the general public, Teddy number debuted the Chevrolet stage this Sunday, 26, a Lollapaloozahow to receive Rosalia at the end of the day. Maybe that’s why the audience that watched the singer and former English teacher Jehovahne Aranha was large.

He and his band took the stage minutes early, dressed as Boy Scouts, a style featured on the album. It could be much worse released this year.

In 2020, the former English teacher decided to make sense of his bouts of anxiety and depression: turning them into songs. Thus, she left Manaus with a one-way ticket to São Paulo and went to sleep on the sofa of the music producer Rodrigo Gorky, whom she met through Instagram.

After showing his talent of composing songs by Pabllo Vittar, Urias and Alice Caymmi, he started gaining space on the internet and gaining fans. “I met him on Twitter and I was blown away. From then on I started following everything he did,” said UX Writer Henrique Fernandes, 29.

“I like the way he sings, he’s not afraid to write the things he thinks. I used to arrive every day around 2pm, but today I arrived early because of him. I woke up tired and exhausted from other days, but not the I was like, “I don’t want to miss the show. Also because being on such a stage for such a small artist is really cool. He moved me a lot,” he said.

The lyrics are striking in their sincerity. In some he says lines like “Tomorrow I try to love myself”, “I don’t deserve to be friends with anyone” or “My mouth is numb from pretending to smile so much”. After the heavy sentences, often shouted as if they were a cry for help, she released a delicate “thank you”.

The excitement of singing Lollapalooza and the beat that accompanies the depressing songs hide it well. He jumped, danced and even sang with one of the fans who was near the stage.

“I’m very happy to be here. A year ago I was watching Miley (Cyrus) and now I’m here playing. I’ll cry if I start talking,” she said.
