Coldplay ends tour in Brazil with a total audience of 730,000 people

British band surpassed their expectations with the 11 presentations of the Brazilian residency, which ends this Tuesday (28) in Rio

the tour of Coldplay through Brazil ended with a total audience of 730 thousand people. In all, there were 11 shows in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba. The information is from the press office of the tour and already considers the presentation this Tuesday (28), at the Nilton Santos Engenhão Stadium, in Engenho de Dentro, Rio de Janeiro.

It is an unexpected number even for the Music of the Spheres Tourwhich was scheduled to visit Brazil in October 2022. However, the British group had to postpone the presentations after the announcement of a lung infection by Chris Martin, vocalist and frontman of the band, after a performance at Rock in Rio, in September last year.

With the postponement, the tour, which was already extensive, with eight performances across the country, increased. A Music of the Spheres Tour assumed the residency identity and surpassed tours by music giants, such as U2, which sold out the same Morumbi stadium five times with the Joshua Tree Tour in 2017. Part of the answer to understanding the demand for tickets lies in the shows themselves: Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion leave the music aside to focus on a visual and emotional experience, with an easily identifiable script.

The show

While Coldplay’s greatest hits are split between records from the 2000s and early 2010s, the latest album, which gives the tour its name, dominates the setlist – including opening and closing tracks. With “Higher Power,” one of the singles from Music of the Spheresvocalist Chris Martin manages to captivate the audience, still surprised by the amount of lights and grandeur of the stage.

The show continues with “Adventure of a Lifetime” until reaching one of the highlights: the performance of “Paradise.” With the luminous show of synchronized bracelets, the hit comes to life and the audience starts to feel part of the show when seeing their own wrist “glow in the dark.”
