Beatles: Paul McCartney defines George Harrison’s best song at the Fab Four

George Harrison was responsible for some Beatles hits such as ‘Something,’ ‘Here Comes the Sun’ and ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’

With countless hits and a great milestone in the history of music, Beatles became well known for the compositions of the duo John Lennon It is Paul McCartney. However, the guitarist George Harrison wrote some genius songs – and McCartney defined the best.

During a 2021 interview with The New Yorker (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet), McCartney stated as “Something” is the best song that Harrison made for the legendary British rock band, but also cited other compositions by his former colleague.

“I think ‘Something‘ was the best track of George – with ‘Here Comes the Sun‘ It is ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps.’ They were possibly his top three,” said the singer and bassist. “Until then, he had only done one or two songs per album.”

I don’t think he thought of himself as a songwriter, and John and I would obviously dominate – again, not really wanting to, but we were’Lennon It is McCartney.’

“So when a record comes along, Lennon It is McCartney go and write some stuff – and maybe it wasn’t easy for him to get into that wedge,” continued Paul McCartney. “But he finally came up with ‘Something‘ and a few other songs that were great, and I think everybody was really pleased for him.”

However, Paul McCartney recalled how he wanted to monopolize songwriting on the Fab Four with him and John Lennon. “I remember walking through Wooltonthe village from which John was, and say to him, ‘Look, you know, it should just be you and me the songwriters. We never said, ‘Let’s keep George outside of that,’ but it was implied.”
