Soundgarden to release final album of songs with Chris Cornell

After a long lawsuit with the singer’s widow, the band will be able to continue with the album

With the death of the singer, guitarist and composer Chris Cornell in 2017, the band soundgarden entered into a dispute with his wife so that they could release the last recordings left by the musician. Now the two parties have reconciled after years of feuding.

In 2019, the widow, Becky Cornell, filed a lawsuit against the members of Soundgarden accusing them of owing royalty money to Chris’ family. Two years later, Becky filed another lawsuit by the other band members who tried to bribe her with $300,000.

The band published the following note on their Instagram profile:

“This reconciliation marks a new partnership between the two parties, which will allow Soundgarden fans around the world to hear the latest music the band worked on alongside Chris. The two parties are united in their mission to promote, honor and build upon Soundgarden’s incredible legacy, as well as the indelible mark Chris left on music history as one of the greatest songwriters and vocalists of all time.”
