Sheeran responded to the lawsuit for the alleged plagiarism of Let’s Get It On,” classic of Marvin Gayein his hit “Thinking Out Loud.” On Thursday, the 4th, he was declared innocent. Ed read a press release in which he stated, “It’s devastating to be accused of stealing someone’s song when we put so much work into our livelihood. I’m just a guy with a guitar who loves to write songs for people to enjoy.”
The singer even threatened retirement if he was defeated: “If this [for declarado culpado] happens, for me that’s enough, I’ll stop,” he told the court last Monday, 01. “It’s an insult. I’ve dedicated my whole life to being a songwriter and performer for people to try and lessen that.”
According to NMEthe action was brought by Ed Townsendone of the composers of the 1973 track. The similarities, which would be in the rhythm and in the ascending sequence of four chords, were not considered sufficient.
