Dee Snider Removed from San Francisco LGBTQ+ Parade for Supporting Paul Stanley’s ‘Transphobic Speech’

San Francisco Pride has announced that Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider will no longer headline the event.

Dee Snidervocalist of Twisted Sisterhas been removed from the attractions of San Francisco Pride – parade celebrating LGBTQIA+ pride and liberation in San Francisco (United States). The reason was support for Paul Stanleyof kisswho criticized gender-affirming surgery.

the hit “We’re Not Gonna Take It” would be one of the hymns of the event, scheduled for the 25th of June, and Snider was scheduled to perform the track on the main stage.

At the beginning of the week, Stanley published a note titled “My thoughts on what I’m seeing.” The musician claimed that “normalizing” gender-affirming surgery is a “dangerous fad” that would be confusing children’s minds.

“There are individuals who, as adults, can decide to reassign. It’s their necessary choice, but making it a game or parents normalizing it as a natural alternative, believing that because a little boy likes to wear his sister’s clothes, we should take them to the next steps is a way away from their innocence,” he said.

The member of Twisted Sister supported declaration of Stanley stating, “You know what? There was a period when I ‘felt beautiful’ too. I’m glad my parents didn’t jump to any conclusions.”

Suzanne Fordexecutive director of San Francisco Pridepublished an official note on the subject (via NME): “When we were notified about the supportive tweet from dee to the transphobic declaration of Paul Stanleywe were angry and heartbroken.”

“The message perpetuated in that tweet casts doubt on the ability of young trans people to identify their own gender. Mutually, we decided to go our separate ways, but I recognize that dee sees this as a teachable moment and a reminder that even allies need to be educated not to promote transphobia.”
