Rita Lee’s son Antonio Lee says his mother’s last autograph was dedicated to her grandson; look at the photo

The visual artist said the mother has never denied a fan’s signature and has devoted herself to designing two flying saucers for her grandson, Arthur

the visual artist antonio lison of Rita Leepublished a tribute to Mother’s Day, celebrated last Sunday, 14, and recalled the last autograph made by the singer. He reported that Rita dedicated the last signature to her nephew, Arthur5 years old. The artist died last Monday, aged 8, at the age of 75.

Antonio said that, in his childhood, he didn’t understand why an autograph from his mother caused “so much fuss”. “People appeared out of nowhere with pen and paper, their hands shaking a bit. They were hypnotized while my mother was scribbling. Then, they took the paper back and left crying, excited,” she said.

Although, according to the report, the newspaper has “given space to selfies and videos that send a message”, the artist said that, now, he understands “the autograph maximum”. “The autograph is analog. It’s a relic, a piece of that moment, living proof with authenticated signature that the meeting really happened,” she wrote.

Antonio said that, in all the years of Rita’s career, he has never seen his mother refuse an autograph. “The worst that could happen to a fan was to arrive without a pen or paper and she would say the famous ‘wow, bug!?'” he recalled.

While visiting the singer in the hospital, the artist told his son about the singer’s signature, drawing flying saucers. Arthur, at the time, got excited and said that he also wanted “an autograph from Grandma Rita”.

“And she, of course, didn’t deny it,” Antonio said. He said he placed a pen and paper in the singer’s lap: “Her hands were weak, her fist no longer had the same flexibility as before her. But she threw herself into the challenge.”

Rita made the dedication and signature first. Then, the flying saucer, “her favorite subject”, her second son. The drawing did not come out as expected, which forced the artist to draw another one, “just to prove to herself that she could do a better one”.

“More than 50 years have passed since this exchange between idol and fan. The same gesture has been repeated thousands of times. Thousands of sheets scattered around that mark a moment in which she was present,” he paid tribute to Antonio.

In the post, the artist has published an image of the autograph and also a disc in which he appears with his son on his lap and next to Rita. “For Arthur, with a kiss from grandma Rita”, wrote the singer in the signature dedicated to her nephew, with two flying saucers drawn.
