Classic tracks reimagined by reggae artists have been listed by musician, songwriter and producer Michael Goldwasser
Musician, composer and producer Michael Goldwasser has been involved with reggae for decades. In addition, he has worked with diverse and very important names in the music industry, such as Toots and the Maytals, Jason Mraz It is Janelle Monae.
As one of the bosses of the seal Easy Star Records and the label’s band, Easy Star All-Stars, Goldwasser delved into reggae versions of classic albums like OK Computer, Sgt. Pepper It is The Dark Side of the Moon. Carrying personal experience as a musician and years of research and insertion in the genre, Michael Goldwasser listed the best reggae covers for Rolling Stone USA.
As expected, part of the selected tracks are versions of songs originally thought of in another musical style. Among the 25 chosen songs there is, for example, “fixing a hole,” of the Beatlesperformed by the Easy Star All-Stars with participation of Max Romeo.
The Beatles, were even mentioned more than once on the list. “I Should’ve Known Better“turned”Independent Anniversary Ska,” in a version made by The Skatelites. In another adventure of Easy Star All-Starsit was time to Michael Jackson gain reggae contours in the track “The Lady In My Life” – in partnership with Christopher Martin.
