Nirvana’s Courtney Love reveals discarded ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ lyrics

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” is one of the greatest hits of the Nirvanaiconic grunge band (rock subgenre) formed by Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl It is Krist Novoselic, but it could have been a bit different. Second courtney lovesinger and widow of cobainthe song had lyrics discarded.

While participating in the podcast 60 Songs That Explain The ’90s (via NME), from Rob Harvillathe leader of lard hole commented on the relationship with Kurt Cobain, as well as lyrics that the singer wrote for the legendary song.

Right away, love revealed other discarded verses for “Smells Like Teen Spirit“: “We merge ahead this special day / this day giving amnesty to sacrilege” / “A denial / and from strangers / a revival / and from favors / here we are now / we’re so famous / here we are now / entertain us.” The free translation is:

We merge ahead on this special day / this day giving amnesty to sacrilege / A denial / and of strangers / a rebirth / and of favors / here we are now / we’re so famous / here we are now / entertain us.
