Bruce Springsteen performs in Italy even after floods and receives criticism

Floods in the Emilia-Romagna region have killed at least 13 people

Bruce Springsteen received criticism for holding a show in a region affected by severe flooding in Italy. The musician performed in Ferrara last Thursday, the 18th, while other parts of Emilia-Romagna suffer from flooding.

As reported by newspapers such as The globe and the CNNsocial media users and fans were critical and asked for a change in the date, since even transportation to get to the concert venue would be impacted by the floods.

Another issue raised by the public was the mobilization of public security agents for the show, which could be avoided, allowing more people to help in the search and support of the victims. In addition to the 13 confirmed deaths, there are thousands of missing people.

The chaotic situation at the site even caused the Emilia-Romagna Formula 1 Grand Prix to be cancelled. However, the mayor of Ferrara, Alan Fabbri, defended holding events in the region: “I regret if anyone may have thought that Ferrara was insensitive to the tragedy in Emilia-Romagna just because the show of ‘The Boss.’ But I can guarantee that, as a former mayor of Bondeno, who lived through the 2012 earthquake, on the front line, I have never asked Italy or the region to stop championships, events or company production in solidarity with us.”

Fabbri he also stated that the cancellation or postponement would affect thousands of workers and tourists who traveled to the city.
