The singer announced that part of the profits from his ‘Love Tour’ will go to the organization that fights gun violence in the US
Harry Styles will donate $1 million to an organization to prevent the violent use of weapons. The announcement comes days after another mass shooting tragedy took place at a school in Uvalde, Texas.
“Like you, I was absolutely devastated by the mass shooting that took place recently at Robb Elementary School in Texas. On our North American tour, we will partner with [organização] Everytown, which works to end gun violence by donating and supporting their efforts,” Styles wrote in his announcement.
With the decision, Harry joins the production company live nation, which will double the amount donated by the singer, totaling about US$ 1 million (approximately R$ 4.7 million, at the exchange rate of 28.5). The intended money will come from the profits of the love tourStyles’ current and hotly contested tour.
The organization chosen as destination was the Everytown for Gun Safetywhich promotes education and awareness research on gun use in the United States.
The massacre in Uvalde, Texas, has the United States on new alert for violence involving firearms. In the attack defined as the deadliest in a decade, a gunman broke into an elementary school, leaving 19 students and two teachers dead.
