In a magical passage, the rapper from São Paulo Renan investigation transforms into a Magical MC to present his new album, ‘ABRAKBÇA‘. Aiming to use rap as an educational tool, Renan uses covers, makeup, color paint, color, love, and the entirety of hip-hop culture in the composition of her show.
The ten-track album is now available for free on all digital platforms, and welcomes notable guests. Adriana Calcanhotto, Arnaldo Antunes, Drik Barbosa, Emicida, Liah Vitória, Maria Rita and Rashid, as well as the O Teatro Mágico group, participate in the new production of MC Mágico.
In a playful way, the rapper, who already has more than two decades of work with hip-hop and education, mixes electronic and acoustic instruments in his rhymes and beats. The sounds of the keyboard, woodwinds and effects that refer to the universe of children build the show that involves adults and children in a fun ride.
“In this project, which uses different languages, I present stories in a playful and entertaining way. For example, in the song ‘Amada Tomada’, featuring Maria Rita, in which I tell the story of a mobile phone that falls in love with a socket”, says Renan , in an interview with Earth.
Becoming a wizard with words, Renan uses metaphors and figures of speech to explain everyday situations to the little ones.
The history of hip hop
It was at a community radio station in the 1990s that Renan began his career and became nationally known as the Inquérito. In addition to six albums released: ‘Mais Loco que um Barato’ (2005), ‘Um Segundo é Little’ (2008), ‘Mudança’ (2010), ‘Corpo e Alma’ (2014), ‘Corpo e Alma REMIX’ ( 2016) and ‘Tungsten’ (2018) -, Renan graduated from UNICAMP in geography.
He is also a master, from the same university, and a doctor from UNESP. It was in this academic trajectory that Renan Inquérito developed techniques for combining education with hip-hop in and out of the classroom.
“My idea of working with hip-hop in education came about long before I understood hip-hop was a pedagogical tool,” she explains.
In addition to music, Renan Inquérito also uses the written word as a tool for social transformation. He has already written the books ‘Poucas Palavras’ (2011), ‘Poesia para Encher a Slab’ (2016) and ‘Poesia para Encher a Slab 2.0’ (2020).
Every teacher is an MC, every child is a poet
Just as Renan Inquérito believes that every teacher is a bit of a MC (master of ceremonies), as they need to capture students’ attention, children are poets too. It is in learning to speak and exchanging words that they express all their sensitivity and creativity.

“When the child is learning to speak, he puts his finger in the socket and, instead of saying ‘Mom, I got a shock’, he says: ‘Mom, the wall bit me”, Renan justifies himself.
The rapper also recalls a workshop where he explained to children that there can be other words within a word, such as with “house” and “wing”. The same thing happens with “brigadeiro”, which has the word “brigadeiro”, but “brigadeiro” is a good thing and “brigadeiro” is a bad thing.
“In this workshop, a little boy raised his hand and said, ‘Uncle, wait! There are four brothers at the house and every time there’s a brigadeiro, there’s a fight,'” he recalls.
The story led to the song “Toda Criança é Poeta”, one of the most played songs from the album “ABRAKBÇA”.
