Mike Kerrbassist and vocalist of royal bloodspoke for the first time after getting angry with the festival audience BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend. The musician used irony when introducing his own band and left the stage showing the middle finger at the event held in Scotland on May 28.
“I’m honestly amazed at how it got to this size,” Kerr stated to BBC Radio One (via NME). “Leaving that show, I felt like I was providing entertainment – it was a way to lighten the situation. I was at the show and I felt like I was in the wrong place,” he continued.
The bassist also stated that he thought people didn’t really know who he was, but added: “I really enjoyed playing! I had fun. In the end, I felt like a cartoon villain. I don’t feel like I did anything morally wrong. I felt like if it was closure.”
One of the factors that may have led to public apathy was the majority of fans of Niall Horanpop attraction that would perform next.
In one of his provocative speeches, Kerr questioned: “Who likes rock?”. After a cold reaction from the audience, she added: “Nine people. Brilliant.” At another point in the show, he stated, “We need to clap for ourselves because that was so pathetic. [Em direção ao cameraman] Will you applaud us? Are you busy? Can you clap? Yes, even he did it. What does that say about you?”
