The Weeknd resumes world tour and makes reference to Anitta at the show in Lisbon

After interrupting the tour for the recording of ‘The Idol’, The Weeknd resumed the After Hours Til Dawn Global Stadium Tour with news

After six months away from the stage to dedicate himself to filming The Idol (2023), Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye resumed the tour After Hours Til Dawn Global Stadium Tour this Tuesday night (06), in Lisbon, Portugal. From the setlist to the costumes, including the stage structure and the setlist, all the elements that make up the show were modified.

It is worth remembering that, in October of this year, The Weeknd will bring the presentation to Brazil on the 7th, 10th and 11th of October in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, respectively. All tickets are already sold out.

In the first performance of the second leg of the tour, The Weeknd made reference to Anita during the song ‘Party Monster’which originally refers to the Selena Gomezwith whom the singer dated for 10 months in 2017. Check it out:

In the structure of the shows, a huge sculpture by the Japanese artist was added. Hajime Sorayama in the middle of the main walkway – similar to the art used on the tour flyers. Completely chrome-plated, the work makes reference to the German science-fiction classic, metropolis (1927).

With movement and lighting resources, the sculpture in the shape of a female android is able to rotate around its own axis and follows the style pattern characteristic of works by Sorayamawho has worked with The Weeknd previously.

Another visual aesthetic change is the costumes: in the first leg of the tour, the dancers wore red costumes while Abel always performed in black clothes. Now everyone wears white. The pedestal used on stage by the singer, as well as his face mask, also gained a facelift, reinforcing the chrome look.

Previously, the official setlist of After Hours Til Dawn Global Stadium Tour had 29 songs, and the song kiss land (2013), from the eponymous album, which had only been played in Asia before the tour.

the tracks “Alone Again” (which opened the show), “Gasoline“, “Kiss Land” It is “Or Nah“ were removed, and entered the place “Creepin”his collaboration for the album by Metro Boomin with 21 Savage, “House Of Balloons“from their first album, “Lost in The Fire”its partnership with Gesaffelstein that had never been played live, and “Dawn FM“.

In addition, the songs that are part of the soundtrack of The Idol, “Popular” It is “Double Fantasy”, were also added. However, hits like “In Your Eyes” It is “Moth to Flame“much requested by fans since the first leg of the tour, were also not added to the new list.
