The song mentions the queen of pop’s name several times. Madonna herself declaims, “Boy, get down on your knees ’cause I’m Madonna/ If you mess with sam today / It messed with me”.
“vulgar” is Sam’s first new song since the album’s release Glory (2023), released in January. Already for Madonnathis is the second partnership of the year – after “Popular”engraved with The Weeknd It is Playboi Carti.
The two musicians announced the single last week – with the cover art featuring their bodies in corsets – and have been teasing it on social media ever since. Earlier this week, Madonna shared a TikTok of herself in fishnets and a cross necklace as she sang one of her verses in the song.

Already Sam Smith shared a video of some of her dancers with a snippet of the song playing in the background, with the caption “Vulgar is beautiful.”

The new track also arrives during a break from Gloria the Tour in Sam Smithwhich will feature shows in Spain, Portugal and France before heading to the US at the end of July. Madonna is also scheduled to start its expected Celebration Tourin Vancouver, Canada on July 15.
