“She’s one of my divas and her timbre is wonderful! She’s much higher pitched than me. I’m a mezzo-soprano, I think Gal was really a soprano. She influences me a lot. There isn’t a single song of hers that doesn’t move me “says the singer.
The tribute began to take shape in early 2019, during a conversation with Ginny with the musician Edu Camargo. The interpreter brought together professionals to form a band and a team until recording the first teaser of the project in December of the same year. Due to the Bahian artist’s death, the show became a posthumous tribute. More than 40 people were directly and indirectly involved in the production of the show.
“I bring Gal’s greatest hits, best boleros, greatest frevos, sambas that he played all his life, as well as songs like Chuva de Prata, Nada Mais, Nuvem Negra, so many beautiful things that he recorded and those that go up to the bottom of the heart. I put together a show that told my story permeated with Gal’s songs, because that was how my life was as a singer in the night until I started my career as a backup singer”explains Ginny.
The singer met Gal in 1995 in the dressing room of the show My water mine Canto and the meeting lives on in his memory: “We talked a lot, Gal asked me about a musician, a great guitarist who worked with his Lanny Gordin, in the Tropicalista era, I worked with him on Star Dust at the time, but this conversation was surreal for me, Diva Gal speaking for me, unforgettable! I was blown away by the perfection of the sound I heard in this show, because I really felt like listening to the CD, her and the band’s tuning was so perfect. The only photo I have with Gal is from that day, when I managed to go to the dressing room and she kindly signed my records.”
