On the eve of the release of the eighth QOTSA album, the vocalist revealed that he faced diagnosis and treatment of the disease in 2022

Revolverin which the singer addressed some difficult moments he faced during the production of In Times New Roman…the band’s new album, including a divorce in 2019 and the discovery of the disease last year.

“I never say it can’t get worse. I never do and I wouldn’t advise it. What I say is that things can get better,” said the musician. Without going into details, he confirmed that he had successful surgery to remove the cancer.
“The cancer was just the icing on the cake of an interesting period, you know? I’m extremely grateful to beat something that I’m going to go through and look back on as fucked up – but it made me better. I’m fine with that. I have a lot of things to do. And a lot of people to do with me.”
New album
At the age of 50, recently completed, Homme told how the production of the new album went. In Times New Roman… is presented as the group’s most hard rock album in years – as evidenced by the first singles, “Carnavoyeur” and “Emotion Sickness”, already released. Result, perhaps, of Josh’s recent experience? In the report, he talks about it:
“I have nothing against therapy, I just don’t because I play in the place. Over the last few years I’ve had a lot of therapy, but at the end of the day, I understand myself, I understand how to move forward, through my religion – music.”

The disc solidifies QOTSA’s longest-running lineup to date, with guitarist-keyboardists Troy Van Leeuwen It is Dean Fertitawith the bassist Michael Shuman and with the drummer Jon Theodore, in addition to Homme. The recordings would have started in 2021, but the vocals would only be added at the end of 2022, after the singer’s treatment.
The official launch of In Times New Roman…the eighth studio album by Queens of the Stone Age, takes place this Friday, June 16, on Matador Records.
