More than 100 complaints of illegal behavior resulted in a joint operation queuing in front of the Allianz Parque; Fans also sell queue positions
Between 20 and 30 changers were taken off the singer’s concert box office queue Taylor Swift by Procon and the Civil Police, this Monday morning, 19, in São Paulo. The suspicious conduct aroused the distrust of the agents carrying out a joint operation.
According to Procon SP’s inspection director, Marcelo Pagotti João, more than 100 foreign exchange charges have led to action. Inspectors from the consumer protection agency were inspecting the line of fans that has been crowding the outdoor area of the Allianz Parque for weeks. The Civil Police also approached the people and took away from there those who could not prove who they were going to buy tickets for.
But it wasn’t just the money changers that sparked the revolt. Fans have also been acting questionable, to say the least, according to others in line. The report drew reports that fans bought seats in the tents and even struck deals with money changers to get through the front.
Some have even announced queue locations on Twitter and offered tickets for an additional R$300 reais. “It had been agreed with those camping that there would be ten people per tent, but those who didn’t have ten people sold these spaces,” says teacher Natália Silva, the only one who agreed to speak without confidentiality with the report.
The singer’s fan, who was waiting in line to try to buy a ticket, said she was outraged. “Shameless fans who passed in front of other fans. Worse than the touts themselves”, she vented.
