25 years ago Brazil said goodbye to Leandro, the duo with Leonardo

Leander and Leonard were some of the artists who moved the most with the countryside and the Brazilian music industry as a whole.

Leandro’s illness and the end of the duo

In April 1998, Leandro had a fainting episode. When he was taken to the hospital, he had an X-ray taken which revealed a lung tumor the size of an orange. After seeking treatment in Brazil and other countries, the concrete diagnosis was a tumor of aska rare and aggressive type of lung cancer. The chances of survival were slim.

He last appeared on the balcony of his apartment in 1998. Wrapped in the Brazilian flag, he cheered on the national team in times of world Cup.
