One of the last steps of the career of Taylor Swift in country music, before migrating definitively to pop, it was a duet with a Brazilian artist. In 2012, the American released a version of “Long Live”, a track on the album Speak Now(2010), with the participation of Paula Fernandes.

Eleven years later, what memories does Paula Fernandes have of the partnership? In an interview with QA, the Brazilian fondly recalled the partnership with the “blonde”. Initially, she revealed that she had a lot of laughs with the initiative of the fans to make memes based on one of the interviews given by the duo at the time, for the TV presenter Eliana.

“I followed along and had a lot of fun, I even made some memes too. The creativity of my fans should be studied. I have the best memories of that conversation.”

And how did Paula feel about being able to work with Taylor, who at the time already presented herself as one of the great revelations of American music? She replies:

“I felt the natural nervousness of being next to an international artist, but also the fulfillment, for having been invited by her to do the Portuguese version of the song and sing it by her side.”

The partnership between Paula Fernandes and Taylor Swift was not restricted to recording “Long Live” and interviews. The two played a private show at the then Citibank Hall (today called Qualistage), in Rio de Janeiro, during the American’s visit to Brazil. On the occasion, in addition to the double song, the “blonde” played six other songs: “Sparks Fly”, “You Belong With Me”, “Mean”, “Love Story”, “Fifteen” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”.

Still in a statement to QAPaula revealed that the two went out to dinner together and, again, Taylor was a pleasant person.

“She was nice and kind. He showed me important things for her, like the cats she has, on her cell phone, and we chose almost the same dish for dinner, without matching.”

Even with the American’s style change, the Brazilian remains a big fan of her colleague’s work.

“I think it’s a phenomenon, I like all her songs. I would love to be able to be with her again, singing and catching up.”
