Now, Zayn revealed some behind-the-scenes details of the breakup of the British group.
During podcast interview call her daddypresented by Alex Cooper and published in Spotify, Malik discussed the period in which he worked in the band, and took the opportunity to vent how writing with the other members was “difficult.”
“There used to be five of us in the room when we were writing, it was so hard for all of us to have the same point of view to talk about the same thing,” stated the singer. Furthermore, he commented on how the decision to leave the band after five years on the road- Zayn he was the first of the lineup to abandon the project – but he didn’t want to “go into too much detail.”
There was a lot of politics going on, certain people were doing certain things, certain people didn’t want to sign contracts, so I knew something was up.
“Obviously there were underlying issues. Like within our friendships too. We’ve been together every day for five years and we’ve had enough of each other, to be totally honest,” continued the artist in the conversation. “So we were close.”
Despite having become quite tired of the routine with One Direction in season, Zayn Malik took the opportunity to point out how he looks at the past and experiences with the band as a “much more affectionate light.” Currently, the five members pursue a solo career in music.
