Singer admitted to having almost given up on music: “Courage would disappear”
Lana Del Rey revealed that he seriously considered giving up his music career because he felt “a failure” but did not move forward because he had no other viable career options to follow.
In an interview with Daily Star(via NME), the singer said: “I never forget the abyss, those moments when nothing worked, where I was seriously considering giving up. There really was a feeling of failure […] I had no choice but to continue because I don’t know how to do anything else. Courage would disappear.”
The artist ended by saying that continuing was the easiest way, as she never had a backup plan other than her singing career.
During the same interview, Lana took the opportunity to praise Billie Eilish for being a “great person” and “a divinely talented artist”, she also completed saying: “In pop music, women finally have the right to express themselves, their experiences. What I was doing at the beginning – they would have been crucified for having done it before. But I’m very specific. And that is the key to universality.”
The singer also talks about not running away from her identity and her essence: “I don’t care if I play the wrong role, [não] fulfills what is expected of a pop singer. What I want is to be true to the exact moment when the music comes to me.”
