With What we do in the shadows Season 4 coming soon, the cast and directors took part in a virtual press conference (soon after the news of a two-season renewal has arrived ), and asked producers Stefani Robinson and Paul Simms how the show handles the wide variety of vampire rules and how they dictate the narrative. Robinson explained that a lot of research was done early in the development of the series, but one strange thing that was discovered is that there isn’t exactly a lot of consistency when it comes to the different variants of Bloodsucker. . For the first season, we had books and books and books, like Vampire Handbooks, that do it, amazingly. Watch the movies … and many of them are really contradictory. I don’t think there is a real borderline in terms of what vampires can and cannot do on any level, perhaps other than drinking blood.
Going on, Stefani Robinson explained that this investigation period was followed by the What we do in the shadows writers who discover how to apply what they had learned in the development of different episodes. Every season we have … it’s also in the scripts, but we never got there. There is a part of the vampire lore, if you throw a bunch of rice on the ground, the vampires have to count every grain before they can do anything else. It’s like OCD. We tried every variation to get the script, but it’s so weird and requires so much explanation that we never really figured out how to do it.
The mockumentary format of What we do in the shadows it is often used to perform exposure, but you can see why this is difficult to manipulate naturally. First, the program may need to find some sort of explanation for the behavior, and in itself it is complicated.
From the conversation, it looks like Vampires Counting Laughter will not appear in the next series of episodes, but we expect a lot of alternative fun in the future and fans will be able to see it very soon. While season 3 only ended last October, What we do in the shadows Season 4 kicks off on July 12 with a two-episode premiere.
