To approve the use of music in Stranger Things 4, Kate Bush had to read parts of the script
In addition to public and audience success, Stranger Things 4 managed to do “Running Up That Hill,” iconic song by Kate Bush, become successful again. The singer celebrated this event in a statement on her website.
In Stranger Thingsthe song was first played on “Chapter Four: Dear Billy,” fourth episode of the fourth season of the series created by the brothers duffer. How the show managed to use ‘Running Up That Hill’ in the fourth season of Stranger Things?
As NME reported, Kate Bush gave Stranger Things permission to use the track because the artist is a fan of the series. Nora Felder, the show’s music supervisor, explained in a recent interview how she chose “Running Up That Hill” for the soundtrack because it “immediately struck me with its deep chords of possible connection to Max’s emotional struggles.”
Wendy Crowley, the singer’s editor, added: “Kate Bush is selective when it comes to licensing her music and because of that, we made sure to get script pages and footage for her to review so she can see exactly what the music would look like. used.”
