The rapper and businessman says he doesn’t like it, but he will never “”hate” the movement

doctor dre talks about the modern hip-hop scene, appearing on the show Hart to Hartin Kevin Hart (via NME)dre comments on currently not liking much in hip-hop these days but claims the genre is evolving.

“Anyone talking about the state of hip hop right now, talking about it from a negative place, sounds like someone’s f*cking grandfather,” Dre stated.

“That’s exactly what it is. Hip-hop is evolving. If you don’t like it, don’t listen, you know what I’m saying? I’m keeping it 100% with you all the way. Some of that shit, most of that shit, I don’t like it. I don’t listen to that shit much. But I’m not hating on it. I will never hate him,” continued the entrepreneur and rapper.

Dre also took the opportunity to praise Kendrick Lamar: “Kendrick Lamar is a true motherfucking artist, like, the true definition of the word”, also defined him as an “eternal artist”, and explains: “he could disappear for five years or something and come back and f*ck our heads” and listed tarots of great artists that he appreciates as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Michael Jackson and Prince.

In another part of the interview, dre was asked about what he likes to listen to on a daily basis and vision as a music producer, he replied: “I get inspired by all kinds of music genres. I don’t necessarily have a favorite,”

In June of this year, doctor dre received the first Hip-Hop Icon Award at the 2023 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awardsand spoke: “As an advocate for some of today’s greatest artists and a successful entrepreneur, he changed the culture around hip-hop. Dre continues to be a central figure in the music industry and we are thrilled to recognize him with the inaugural ASCAP Hip-Hop Icon Award as we mark 50 years of hip-hop.”
