While “Something to Give to Each Other”new album by troye sivannot enough, the 28-year-old singer released the single “Rush”which was accompanied by an intense music video, last Thursday (13).
By dividing opinions on social networks, the clip has received a lot of criticism due to the lack of body diversity in the cast, which is made up of thin men. In an interview with Billboard, released this Tuesday (18th), Troye opened up about the negative comments.
I have certainly read about it. But to be honest, we didn’t think so. Of course, we weren’t saying, “We want this specific type of person in the video.” We just did the recordings and there was no critical thinking behind it.”
Sivan also took advantage of the chat to talk about an article in Vulture magazine, which, in addition to criticizing the music video, also offended the artist for his physical size. “I saw an article where it was mentioned [a falta de diversidade de corpos] and, in the same sentence, that person said: ‘Eat something, stupid'”.
Reading this really pissed me off as I had my own insecurities with my image. I think everyone’s body is just as beautiful as theirs, including mine, and it sucks to see people talk about other people’s bodies,” Troye reflected.
