The Brazilian Danieze Santiago apologized for the incident: “I didn’t want to upset”
the Portuguese singer Caroline Deslandes accused the Brazilian artist Daniel Santiago of plagiarism after the release of the song The most said phrase. Carolina joked about the situation by comparing the forró to the song Go therecomposed by her.
“When you find out you’ve been plagiarized and you think ‘what a lack of respect’, but your romantic vein of forró makes you dance,” Carolina joked in a post on Instagram. “Danieze Santiago, meu amor,” this is a cover at best,” she wrote in the caption.
On video, the Pernambuco artist commented on the case. “Two songs of Portuguese origin came out on a promotional CD. I just changed some words to fit Brazil. I didn’t write them. The songs weren’t supposed to be part of the CD,” she explained.
“I did not request permission as it was not my intention to go up and appropriate the songs. […] I didn’t want to annoy or steal anyone’s work,” he said.
Danieze also stated that the mistake would not have been his, but his team’s. “Another mistake was making me a songwriter. The Portuguese artists, of course, were upset because they weren’t credited,” he said.
“Who knows, maybe one day, if I go to Portugal, I won’t be able to talk to her?” he suggested. Danieze stated that the song has been removed from all platforms it was released on, but can still be heard on YouTube.
