In his memoir, You Thought You Knew, the pop star’s ex-husband recounts alleged troubling encounters between Spears and her sons, Preston and Jayden

At the end of his memoir, You Thought You Know, Kevin Federline issues an alert about his ex-wife, Britney Spearsand their children, Sean Preston20 years old, and Jayden Jamesfrom 19. “Now, more than ever, they need your support”he wrote, according to an excerpt obtained by The New York Times. “I was their buffer for years, but now this is bigger than me. It’s time to sound the alarm.”

Although Federline does not specify a particular concern, he expresses an intense uneasiness in his passages about Spears. He suggests the pop star needs professional help which he believes won’t be provided after the move. “Free Britney”in which her supporters advocated the end of the conservatorship she was under from 2008 to 2021. “All those people who worked so hard on this should now put the same energy into the ‘Save Britney’ movement. [Salvem a Britney]”he wrote, according to the The Times. “Because this is no longer about freedom. It’s about survival.”

Federline had sole custody of sean and Jayden during most of the guardianship, a period in which long periods passed between visits from Spears to the children. In the book, he claims there was an element of fear when they stayed at her house. “They would sometimes wake up at night and find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, are you awake?’ — with a knife in hand”he wrote. “Then she would turn and leave silently without explanation.”

According to the The New York Times, Federline and Spears “haven’t spoken to each other in years”but the singer’s ex-husband maintains: “I have never, ever been against the Britney. I just tried to help my kids have an amazing relationship with their mom. And it’s hard because when I really reflect on everything that happened, my children don’t know the woman I married. And I spent two decades trying to bridge that gap.”

More details, presumably, are included in the book, about which Federline previously said: “If you ever have questions, you will find the answers here”. So far, the excerpts have only generated more questions. In particular, uncertainty hangs over the meaning of certain statements, such as a passage in which Federline wrote: “The truth is that this situation with Britney seems to be heading towards something irreversible. It has become impossible to pretend that everything is fine.”

Since the end of the guardianship, Spears spent more time with sean and Jaydenwho moved to Hawaii with Federline in 2023. Last December, she spent Christmas with her youngest son for the first time in two years. In his 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears wrote about her complicated relationship with her two children, the guardianship and custody battle with Federline. “My freedom in exchange for naps with my children”she wrote. “It was a trade I was willing to make.”

From the perspective of Federlinehe wrote: “The clock is ticking, and we’re approaching the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our children will be left to pick up the pieces.”

The consultancy of Spears did not immediately respond to the company’s request for comment. Rolling Stone. In a statement to Peoplea representative of Spears he said: “With the news of the book of Kevin coming to light, once again he and others are profiting at her expense and unfortunately this happens after the child support has ended. All she cares about are her children, Sean Preston and Jayden Jamesand their well-being during all this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir [A Mulher em Mim].”
